CONCEPT 32 - Keyboard Interface Driver BA-6500-790 (KID Card)

The KID card is used in conjunction with a Distribution Board to provide the interface between the key panel Line Select Keys and the Telephone Interface Card (TIF).

The KID card can provide the interface for up to sixty four lines.

A maximum of four KID cards can be connected to a Distribution Board to provide up to 256 lines.

The KID Card behaves in exactly the same manner as the Serial I/O Card in that it converts the selected line into the actual information for the TIF card to select and use this line in order to make or receive a call.

The KID Card incorporates lamp driver chips and is therefore able to directly drive the associated Line Select Lamps.

In addition the card also drives the Call Alert Sounder (Sounder one) and the Automatic Half Barrier Sounder (Sounder two).

Jumpers on the card allow the following changes:
• RS 422 or RS 232 signalling between the keyboard and the concentrator
• Variations of lamp flash rates
• Flicker on second phone call lamp
• Master or Slave operation

Uses

The KID Card differs from the Serial I/O Card in that it incorporates the lamp drivers, this enables the card to be used in all locations where the use of a normal Concept 32 Key panel is not possible.

General Information

The KID Card is powered from the Concentrator -50Volt DC supply. An on board voltage converter supplies the required +5Volts DC.

When a single KID Card is present, Jumper 2 MUST be used to signal that this KID Card is the master. When more than one KID card is in use then only the first KID card must have Jumper 2 present. The first KID card is the master and any other KID card is a slave.
Note: The KID Card is housed in a Serial Interface Unit (SIU), and this interface unit is located below or adjacent to the Signallers console.
