STS Signals’ rapid response for revamped Wembley station
STS Signals Ltd has recently responded to an urgent request by London Underground and Telent Enterprise Services to supply telephone concentrator equipment for passenger ‘Help Point’ facilities at Wembley Park Underground station in North-West London.
Telent approached the UK’s leading supplier of non-blocking telephone concentrator equipment, STS Signals in Wimborne, Dorset and work was quickly underway to supply a CONCEPT 32 Concentrator system and desk-top keyboard. The company’s rapid response team managed to procure, manufacture and test the new system within three weeks from the initial enquiry, and enabled the installers to meet their deadlines.
The well established CONCEPT 32 Telephone Concentrator system has been designed to meet the exacting requirements of Rail Administrations, especially when working in an electrified environment. The system is used to control up to 32 remote telephones or Help Points via a single control centre from where each telephone may be called individually. The 113 year old tube station which serves the new Wembley Stadium complex is now complete following a £53 million revamp.
The north London station can handle 70% more passengers, allowing 37,500 customers to pass through every hour and is regarded as the primary gateway to Wembley. STS Signals’ General Manager, Phil Tait said “We are delighted to have supported London Underground in supplying equipment for this Olympic venue and we look forward to working together to deliver other key elements of the transport plan for the 2012 Games”.
